Degradation of the creep resistance of a Re-containing 10%Cr steel upon creep testing at low applied stress

New Re-containing steel is a promising material for steam blades of fossil power plants worked at ultra-supercritical parameters the steam. This was subjected to creep testing 650°C under applied stresses ranging from 200 100 MPa. The exhibits excellent resistance high stresses; time rupture comprises 10,987 hours after test 650°C/140 However, dramatic drop in strength observed low stresses. A possible reason this decrease may be significant coarsening Laves phase particles.
